King David and His Good Shepherd
Welcome to this journey of disovery. You may have found this journey because of friend, or maybe by searching the internet. Either way, this is an opportunity for you to discover more about who God is and how to be close to him. It is always better to take a journey with a friend, so maybe find someone to do it with you!
David wrote what may be the most famous of all Psalms. It is a beautiful confession of his understanding of how he understood and related to God. Perhaps, you will understand and experience the same things with God that David did.
Click on each tab to continue your journey of discovery about your questions.
Starting with a moment of thankfulness.
“Lord God, thank you for an opportunity to know you. I am thankful for a way to discover who you are.”
Take a moment and think of something you are thankful for and tell God about it.
Continuing with a short prayer.
“God, I do want to know you, understand what you are like, feel like I am near you and pleasing you. Please help me to hear you through these stories you left for me to read.”
Praying is that simple. Is there anything else you want to tell God?
David's Good Shepherd
It might be different than you expect, but after the story there will be a few questions to help you discover for yourself about who God is and what that means for your life.
He makes me lie down in green pastures.
He leads me beside still waters.
He restores my soul.
He guides me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.
Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil, for you are with me.
Your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies.
You anoint my head with oil. My cup runs over.
Surely goodness and loving kindness shall follow me all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in Yahweh’s house forever.
